On 0/9/1934, while Dad was between jobs, Elvin was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mom's cousin Elva told me she went to Las Vegas to help out at as she was unmarried at the time. Women were kept confined to their beds for at least 2 weeks after a delivery.
Mom told me of a time when her stomach was huge just before Elvin was born. She was in her front yard in Las Vegas when a small boy called her over to the gate. "Come here, I've got something for you." he said. Mom was surprised, thinking someone had sent over a baby gift. when she reached the gate the boy reached out and slugged her in the big stomach! I was so angry for her i still would like to track that grown man down and box his ears good.
